2005 Cadillac SRX moon roof?
My 2005 Caddillac RSX moon roof seems to be stuck, it wont close. Has anyone else run into this problem? What can I do to fix it? What would the cost be?
Assuming you have the Skyview roof which is the big one running the entire length of the car, there are a few possible scenarios. Yes, they can be expensive to fix depending on the issue. The tracks of the roof may need to be lubricated, or the control module needs to be reprogrammed. Those are the easy fixes.
What also happens is that the bolts holding the roof in place back themselves out and the entire assembly is loose in the mount. It's usually accompanied with a rattling noise. For that, the headliner needs to come down, and the sunroof bolts need to be tightened and re-installed with thread lock compound and new washers. It's not something you can do in the driveway, it has to go to a dealer because they have the advisory bulletin from GM. It's a lot of labor time to take that headliner and sunroof down, so hopefully it's under warranty. If not, bet on at least $1000 dollars. Your dealership may be able to help though, it is a common problem.
