summer reading list opinions?
I like to read almost anything and I've looked at a few of the summaries, but I still don't know what to pick. I'd like opinions on any one of these books, please, good or bad. Thank you!
All Creatures Great and Small Herriot
Bean Trees Kingsolver
Black Boy Wright
Brave New World Huxley
Cold, Sassy Tree Burns
Count of Monte Cristo Dumas
East of Eden Steinbeck
The Education of Little Tree Carter
Fountainhead Rand
Gulliver’s Travels Swift
Hunchback of Notre Dame Hugo
Jane Eyre Bronte
Last of the Mohicans Cooper
My Antonia Cather
Passage to India Forester
The Plague Camus
Rebecca DuMaurier
Secret Life of Bees Kidd
Separate Peace Knowles
Shoeless Joe Knisella
Siddhartha Hesse
War of the Worlds Wells
Watership Down Adams
Wuthering Heights Bronte
I've heard all of these are good but they are still on my must read list so I can't tell you much other then that:
Count of Monte Cristo
East of Eden
Gulliver's Travels
Last of the Mohicans
Rebecca
Books on the list I wasn't overly fond of but are still good reads:
Wuthering Heights
War of the Worlds
Secret Life of Bees
I hated:
Seperate Peace.
Now I loved both Jane Eyre and Hunchback of Notre Dame (they are both all time favorites for me).
Pick Jane Eyre if you like romance (there are some mystery elements to it but it's mostly a book that maybe Jane Austen lovers would really get into). I think Hunchback is a book that has something for everyone so I would go with that. It is not like the Disney movie at all, and Hugo is a fantastic writer!
Overall though, you have a great list of books to choose from. I went to a private high school and we never had a choice of these books (jealous).
