What kind of wax do salons use for hair removal? (Its usually yellow)?
Times are hard and I need to start waxing at home. Creme removers dont last as long as waxing. All types of waxes are welcome. brand specific as well AND where can I buy? I usually shop at sallys beauty supply store.
Hi I’m a beauty therapist and most salons use 2 types of waxes:
1 Hot wax- this is used on areas such as any facial areas, under arms and bikini area (you don’t use any strips of fabric with this wax)
2 strip wax- this is used every where else (if you are going to by salon quality products you will need a wax pot or heating device and wax strips. I recommend getting roll on wax as this doesn’t drip and ends up being cheaper)
The best brand I find is Mancine (it’s an Australian brand that is well priced and is of high quality)
If you are going to do your own waxing with salon quality products you will need
Wax pot or heating device
Wax Strips
Paddle Pop Sticks different sizes for different areas (you should always use paddle pop sticks and never double dip as this way you don’t contaminate the wax)
Wax
Citrus Solvent (this is to remove the wax off the pots, floor and cloths but don’t apply to skin as it will burn)
Pre Wax Solution (this removes dirt, makeup, and oil from the skin in preparation for waxing)
Talc Power (apply after the pre wax solution to create a barrier so that the wax doesn’t rip your skin off)
Moisturiser (either a aloe Vera based moisturiser of tea tree oil as aloe Vera is soothing and tea tree is anti septic)
All of this will cost around $200 but in the long run you will save money and if you get good at it you can wax your friends and get them to pay you.
Hope this helps
