What do I need to know regarding cutting the top off a car?
I have this very nice 88 Eldorado. What would I need to know before I cut the top off to transform into a convertible? And what tool would I use?
With what I have learned from you, I will pass. Never considered the integrity of the frame being compensated. thanks.
Remember also that the roof assembly is part of the structural strength of the car. Cut it off and the frame won't be supported properly. It can bend or break. The least that will happen is that the car won't handle properly due to frame flexing. The reason converts usually weigh more than the same model sedan is the extra bracing on the frame to compensate for not having a roof assembly. You might get by with a "T" top, but even that is iffy.
