Should a carbon fiber hood be the same color as the body paint?
Im trying to convinve my dad to buy me a old honda prelude . The car is red but the carbon fiber hood is black. My dad is convinced that the hood should be the same color as the car and because of this, he wont buy the car. I said that he is wrong and thats just how the hood should be. Whos right?
Usually the carbon fiber hood is kept black because its gets you "street credit" but you can and I've seen dozen of cars with painted carbon.
By adding a urethane additive to the paint will help it flex more to prevent the paint from cracking. Any competent body shop that has their act together would know about making your paint more flexible. It's slightly more expensive than 'regular' paint, but it will flex more and also buffs out very nice.
Race cars use carbon technology in parts such as fenders, bumpers and wings that are painted and cant even tell its Carbon Fiber by looking at it.
