What causes Carter AFB fuel bowls to empty when sitting overnight.?
I bought a used AFB and put a kit in it . The application is on a 400 c.i. Ford with a performer intake. The problem is when the truck sits overnight, the fuel bowls are empty. Currently the tranny needs rebuilding. When I pulled the vacuum line off of the modulator valve, a mixture of transmission fluid and gasoline poured out. The vacuum line was connected to the base plate port in the rear center of the carb. Any ideas, fixes or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Dan.
if you found transmission fluid in the line then that means you need a modulator valve on it,the diaphragm in it is busted and its letting fluid be pulled up through the line on it as for the carburetor problem, check for a crack in the bowl or a bad fuel pump,if the pump is bad sometimes it will siphon the fuel back out and pull it all back to the tank on it,but that wouldn't explain the fuel being in the vacuum line, try hooking the modulator line directly to the intake ,there should be a port on the back of the intake for this purpose, good luck on it,
