Gibson Les Paul question?

I know the toggle switch is to switch between the pickups. But its labeled treble and rhythm. so which one is for bridge pickup and the neck pickup? Should the switch position in the middle to use both pickups? and if i use the bridge pickup, i heard the sound would be a bit bass, is it true? What about the neck sound then?

Please give me a detailed and most informative answer and u will get 10 pts. remember only the most informative answer will get the 10 pts

i own a les paul. and if the switch is flipped down its the bridge if its flipped up its the neck. if its in the middle it uses both pickups for a good mid range combo. the neck is used for leads and all that, the bridge is used for more like rhythm sort of acoustic playing, it sounds really bassy.
