Are OEM car radios batter than aftermarket units?

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger that still has it's OE radio/cd player. I also have a Sirius Sportster4 hooked up to it. Recently, the cd player stopped working. To complicate matters my wife want a Sirius too. I seldom listen to am/fm anymore and all I need the radio for is to listen to cds. I know the Sirius uses an unused fm channel as link to get to my speakers. Am I better off moving the Sirus to her car and going all new in my truck, or fixing my radio and buying another Sporster for her car? The guy at the shop thinks the factory recievers get better reception than aftermarket units

ok lets say you go to the movies and the crook are out for the night braking in to vehicles
they run in to 2 2003 ford rangers in the parking lot and look inside the window

what window are they going to brake ?

ranger with OEM radio
or ranger with new aftermarket radio ? maybe there are amplifiers and woofers in the back

do you know how much is the window for your truck ?

yes it cost a lot more than the new radio

also OEM IS better and there is nothing wrong with sound quality
you want more volume add a 4 channel amplifier

good luck
