Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo $3.86 Dean Jones, star of The Love Bug, came back to the fold for this third lap around the block, which finds him racing in Monte Carlo while thieves plant a stolen diamond in Herbie's gas tank. The plot is forced and conventional, but the cast is the thing: the excitable Don Knotts (The Apple Dumpling Gang) and the tormentable Roy Kinnear (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory) are good men to have in a... |

Can toy breeds have working/performance lines?
Herding breeds who by their owner are worked on sheep every day and trialed, sporting breeds who are trialed in gun dog tests, and terriers who are put in earth dog. Dog who have a pedigree full of titled dogs in performance and working events are considered from working/performance lines. So, if you had say a toy poodle who had nothing but obedience, agility, rally, and flyball champions in his pedigree, who he be considered from toy working lines?
What i'm asking is if all other breeds can have either show lines and working lines, why are toys stuck with just show lines?
Poppy: Yeah, I own 2 BCs who are a mix of show and working lines! They are both fantastic dogs. I would not get a Bc from just show lines or just working lines. I wanted a dog who could do both.
Toy breeds tend to be stuck with just show lines because they are basically companion dogs. Show lines and working lines in other breeds are easily seperated because you can show them or work them...but it's hard to test a dogs 'companion ability' unless you consider obedience.
Not to say that a breeder who shows AND competes in those things wouldn't stand apart from someone who simply shows. They certainly would to me--just as someone who shows & works would with other breeds. (Though, unfortunately, many breeds have seperated so much that doing both is nearly impossible).
