Why is there a difference in the Porsche Emblem?

I own a 79' Porsche, and I was just wondering why on the older Porsche Emblems, the Porsche script on top of the badge is gold, and why on the later badges, the Porsche script on the top is blacked out? Why did Porsche decide to change this? (also if anybody finds a .edu site, with this information could you link it please?)

Its most likely the price. With the rising prices of gold, it'll cost them more to make the emblem. They want to make as much as possible using little less. Check with the porsche dealership, someone there may know.
Maybe it is easier to read when its black on gold.
