Is it necessary to install the latest software updates on a Macbook with Tiger Os X 10.4.9.?
I have just got a Macbook Core 2 Duo with Tiger Os X 10.4.9. It has had the original Mac OS X re-installed on it.
It is necessary to install the latest software updates on it (using the Mac OS X Automatic software update feature)?
The reason I ask is because I read several forums and some users complain that some updates actually can cause more problems (bugs).
For security reasons you should be running the latest updates. I'm on OS X 10.4.11 with all the latest software updates and have never had any problems. Except once where iChat wouldn't update because of the language files that I had deleted, only have English and Japanese language files on my Mac.
Follow these directions and you shouldn't have any problems with any of the updates.

But just in case, keep a backup of your startup disk.

I use Superduper! instead of Retrospect.
