How do you figure out unknown threading on a bolt/pin and get a new one?
I have a new tubular exhaust manifold for my st165 Celica alltrac. I bought it used and it only came with one pin and no nut. The pin is threaded the same on both sides. One side screws into the manifold, the other side goes through a hole in the turbo and then nuts screw on to it. The threading is different from the stock pins.
- How can I figure out what threading this pin is?
- How can I get 3 more just like it?
The manufacture and seller are of no help.
Asking for help on a forum I was told
"The Toyota nuts are deformed at the top and "pinch" the stud"
- Is there a name for this type of nut?
- How can I get 4 nuts with the correct threading that are also special like described?
Specifically the manifold is this one:

Thank you.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ASKING ABOUT A LOCK-NUT ----IT STARTS ON EASY WITH FINGERTIP PRESSURE AND WHEN ALMOST ON GETS TIGHT AND NEEDS A WRENCH TO FORCE IT THE REST OF THE WAY .
